​Royal Znojmo

Královské město Znojmo, majestátně se tyčící na skalnatém ostrohu nad řekou Dyjí, je bez nadsázky jedním z nejkrásnějších historických měst v České republice.Zdejší starobylé uličky, lemované měšťanskými domy, tajuplnými zákoutími a romantickými vyhlídkami, v sobě spojují hlubokou historii s uvolněnou, téměř jižanskou atmosférou.

Proč ho musíte zažít: Procházka po hradbách vystřídaná posezením v jedné z útulných kaváren či vinoték v historickém centru nabízí dokonalý mix kultury, gastronomie a pohody.

Jak daleko ho máte: Do historického centra Znojma dorazíte pohodlně autem za cca 15 minut. Město je také skvěle dostupné autem alei na kole po značených cyklostezkách, které vedou přímo skrze panenskou přírodu národního parku.

Znojmo Underground

Chcete zažít historii z úplně jiné perspektivy? Sestupte pod dlážděné uličky Znojma a objevte největší systém podzemních chodeb a sklepů v České republice, který patří k nejrozsáhlejším labyrintům ve střední Evropě. Tento fascinující svět, budovaný od 14. století, se proplétá pod historickým centrem v délce úctyhodných 27 kilometrů a má až čtyři patra pod sebou.

Proč ho musíte zažít: Je to naprosto unikátní technický a historický zážitek. Navíc je zde po celý rok stálá teplota kolem 12 °C, což z něj dělá perfektní cíl pro příjemné ochlazení v horkých letních dnech.

Jak daleko ho máte: Vstup do podzemí se nachází přímo v historickém srdci Znojma, tedy pouhých 15 minut jízdy autem od našeho hotelu.

​St. Catherine's Rotunda

​On a rocky promontory within the grounds of Znojmo Castle stands an unassuming structure that nevertheless conceals a treasure of inestimable value. The Rotunda of St. Catherine, a National Cultural Monument, is the only fully preserved remnant of the original Přemyslid castle and ranks among the oldest and most significant Romanesque monuments in the entire Czech Republic.

 

 

Why you must experience it: Here, you’ll touch upon the very beginnings of Czech statehood. Due to the extreme rarity of the frescoes and the need to maintain a strict microclimate, access inside is strictly regulated, making a visit a truly exclusive and mysterious experience.

 

 

How far away it is: The Rotunda is located within the breathtaking grounds of Znojmo Castle, overlooking the Dyje River canyon, just a 15-minute drive from our hotel.

​Loucký monastery

​On the southern outskirts of Znojmo lies a fascinating, monumental complex that has shaped the spiritual, cultural, and economic life of the entire region for centuries. The Louka Monastery, founded as early as 1190 for the Premonstratensian Order, was one of the most significant monastic complexes in Central Europe during the Middle Ages. According to the original plans, its current magnificent Baroque appearance was supposed to be even more extensive—but even so, its monumental wings and endless facades will literally take your breath away.

 

 

 

Why you must experience it: A stroll through the stunning Baroque corridors, where historic architecture blends with the scent of aging wine, offers a truly unique and captivating atmosphere.

 

 

 

How far away it is: Loucký Monastery is located on the outskirts of Znojmo, and you can easily reach it by car in 15 to 20 minutes. It’s also a perfect destination for cyclists, as the Podyjí bike trail runs right by it.

​Romance at Bítov castle

If you’re looking for a place where medieval history blends with wild, untamed nature, Bítov Castle will completely capture your heart. This majestic stronghold, shrouded in ancient legends, stands proudly on a rocky promontory above the tranquil confluence of the Dyje and Želetavka rivers. Bítov isn’t just a stark fortress—it’s a place with an incredibly warm and romantic atmosphere, where you’ll wander hand in hand through the centuries.

 

 

 

Why you must experience it: A stroll through the castle’s forest park at sunset, when the light filters through the crowns of ancient trees and reflects off the water’s surface in the valley, is one of the most romantic experiences in the Znojmo region.

 

 

 

How far away it is: Bítov Castle is located about a 30- to 35-minute drive from our hotel. The route takes you through picturesque countryside lined with forests and views of the water, so the drive itself is a great start to your trip.

​Vranov nad Dyjí castle

Imagine a majestic castle that, like something out of a fairy tale, towers atop a steep, seventy-meter-high cliff directly above the shimmering waters of the Dyje River. Vranov nad Dyjí is one of the most impressive and significant secular structures of the Central European Baroque period and is rightly considered one of the most photogenic castles in the entire Czech Republic.

 

 

Why you have to experience it: The views from the castle terraces of the deep valley and forests of the Podyjí National Park are simply unforgettable.

 

 

 

How far away is it? The castle is located in the immediate vicinity and is an ideal destination for a romantic day trip, which you can combine with a boat ride on the Vranov Dam or a hike to the Clary’s Cross lookout point, which offers the most beautiful panoramic view of the entire castle complex.

​Uherčice Castle

Imagine a place where time has stood still, where every stone breathes authentic history, free from mass tourism. The Uherčice State Castle, nestled in a picturesque landscape near the Austrian border, is a fascinating architectural gem. After decades of hardship, the castle is now literally rising from the ashes thanks to an extensive and sensitive restoration, revealing its long-forgotten beauty.

 

 

Why you must experience it: You’ll be captivated by the unique, almost nostalgic atmosphere of the courtyards, the magnificent banquet hall, and the breathtaking stucco decorations. A stroll through the adjacent English park, featuring a romantic obelisk and the ruins of a man-made structure, offers a sense of peace and space for contemplation that you’ll rarely find at other historic sites.

 

 

 

How far is it from us: The chateau is located about a 30-minute drive (approx. 35 km) from our hotel in Lukov. You can also easily combine your trip there with a visit to the nearby Bítov Castle or the romantic ruins of Cornštejn, creating an unforgettable full-day tour steeped in history.

Why you must experience it: You’ll witness the most beautiful sunsets over the Podyjí region right from here. The views from the castle’s walkways of the forests and the water below are breathtaking. During the summer season, the castle also comes alive with historical sword fights, theater performances, and night tours that offer an unforgettable atmosphere.

 

How far it is from us: You can reach this medieval legend from our hotel in just 20 minutes by car (approx. 18 km). A visit to Cornštejn can be perfectly combined with a trip to nearby Bítov Castle or with a pleasant swim and a boat trip on the reservoir.

​Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou castle

Imagine a magnificent estate whose grandeur and elegance boldly rival those of the most beautiful French palaces. Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou Castle is a monumental Baroque gem that will dazzle you even from a distance. This place was not only home to the nobility, but in the 18th century it became a center of cultural life, where the very first Czech opera was composed. A stroll past its majestic yellow facades and the neighboring Church of St. Margaret will instantly transport you to the High Baroque era.

 

Why you must experience it: The true heart of Jaroměřice is its breathtaking French garden, which seamlessly transitions into a vast English park stretching along both banks of the Rokytná River. It’s an oasis of tranquility, perfect for romantic strolls beneath centuries-old trees.

 

How far is it from us: You can reach this Baroque paradise from our hotel in a pleasant 30-minute drive (approx. 35 km).

​Rosa coeli monastery

Představte si monumentální gotický chrám, kde se místo barokních kleneb díváte přímo do otevřeného nebe a místo tichých modliteb slyšíte šumění větru a zpěv ptáků. Zřícenina kláštera minoritek Rosa coeli (v překladu Růže nebeská) v Dolních Kounicích je jedním z nejmystičtějších a nejpůsobivějších míst v celé České republice.  Zdejší syrové kamenné zdi, vysoké gotické lomené oblouky a všudypřítomný klid vytvářejí atmosféru, ze které vám doslova naskočí husí kůže.

Proč ho musíte zažít: Podle mnoha psychotroniků a citlivých lidí je toto místo nabité obrovským množstvím pozitivní, uklidňující energie. Ať už na tyto věci věříte, nebo ne, hra světla a stínu, která se v chrámu odehrává během slunečných dnů, nebo neopakovatelné kouzlo při večerních koncertech pod širým nebem vás stoprocentně zasáhnou. Je to ráj pro fotografy a milovníky tajemna.

The fairytale-like Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) with its breathtaking castles, sprawling gardens, and romantic colonnades, or the picturesque town of Mikulov—steeped in history and the aroma of fine wine—with its majestic castle and Svatý kopeček Hill—all lie about an hour’s drive from us. Where you ultimately decide to go is entirely up to you. We look forward to hearing, over a glass of fine wine in the evening, which historic sites captured your heart the most.
